Rosanne Barr

Rosanne Barr is a newly elected Member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists. Although only 29 years of age, she has already established a following, with solo shows at The Green Gallery, The Annan Gallery, The Atholl Gallery, Aberfeldy Gallery, The Di Rollo Gallery and The Fotheringham Gallery. Further afield, she has been invited to exhibit at The Wren Gallery in Bedfordshire, The Red Rag Gallery in Bath and at The Iona Gallery in Oxford.
For the past three successive years her work has been selected for the Royal Glasgow Institute of The Fine Arts Annual Open Exhibition and she has been featured at the Edinburgh, Glasgow and London Art Fairs.

Rosanne came to prominence as a Finalist in the 2009 TSB Jolomo Awards and as a result, her work was recently exhibited at The Royal Opera Arcade Gallery in London.
She was born in the village of Gartocharn, overlooking Loch Lomond, and as a child grew to love the far north-west of Scotland at Arisaig, Altbea and Durness. She was awarded Silver and Gold Medals in successive years in the Kelvingrove Art Galleries Drawing Competition. In 2003 she graduated First Class Honours from Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee. Later that year, at the British Design Centre and at The Mall Galleries, she gained a Licentiate of Distinction from the Society of Designer Craftsmen.

Rosanne’s work explores the rugged coastlines and dramatic skies of Scotland.
“Tightly composed and hugely atmospheric, there is a very pure sense of colour in Barr’s work…” 12.09.09 The Herald
