Joyce Borland

A west of Scotland artist, born in Dumbarton, and living in the village of Cardross, Argyll and Bute, it followed that the influence of the Colourists of the Glasgow School of Art would be a major inspiration in developing her style.
Tutored at this Institute by Pete Howson, Neil Macdonald and Norrie Kirkham, she has specialized in the tonality of landscapes mainly in East and West Scotland.
She is an elected member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists and the Paisley Art Institute. Works have been exhibited by the Royal Glasgow Institute, The Scottish Artists and Artist Craftsmen in Edinburgh.
Enjoys working outdoors at home and abroad, and prefers to work in acrylics or water-based mediums using strong bold colours and bold palette knife brushwork.
She successfully exhibits throughout the UK, and her prizes include the Barclay Lennie Award at Glasgow Society of Women Artists, MacRoberts Open Prize at Art Exposure Gallery, Glasgow, Inverbeg Trophy at Helensburgh Art Club and the Gregor Ian Smith Prize a Bearsden Art Club and a London Finalist for a number of years in the Laing Art Competition.
Exhibitis regularly at Nicholas Hagen Fine Art, London, Hunger Gallery, Long Melford, Torrance Gallery, Edinburgh, Leith Gallery, Edinburgh, Di Rollo Gallery, Edinburgh, Ealain Gallery, Drymen, Rowan Gallery, Helensburgh, The Jerdan Gallery, Crail, Atholl Gallery, Dunkeld, Aberfeldy Gallery and many others.
