Pam Carter

Pam Carter is one of Scotland's best known and most successful artists. Her images of Hebridean seascapes with light infused storm clouds, slate roofed, white-washed crofting cottages, bright emerald green pastures and soaring grey/blue mountains are embedded in the conscience of those who visit Scotland's galleries.
We have shown her work many times at the Atholl Gallery over recent years but we are particularly pleased to be able to offer her a Special Feature for her work.
Following is a selection of this artists work, please phone (01350 728855) to see what we have available

Artist's Statement

"My subject matter is found in the rugged West Coast of Scotland with its isolated cottages and wild colours of the machair and bracken, and in the East Coast with its majestic cliffs, fishing villages and farm land.
A sense of a place is important in my work but for me it's not about capturing a scene with complete accuracy. Sometimes it is the elements and the untamed force of nature that inspire, but more than anything it is the essential quality of light which can be found in the Scottish land and seascape. I often interpret the scene with abstract elements allowing the paint to work for me. I translate this light in terms of contrast and colour-often bold but always with subtlety and balance."
