Malcolm Cheape

Born 1964. Studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee.
Malcolm is one of Scotland's leading marine artists who has been a regular and successful contributor to exhibitions at the Atholl Gallery for over 16 years. His ships are depicted in impressive detail usually set in harbour or in dock under repair.
Relying on tonal effect, a limited range of colours and clever use of collage, his paintings are strikingly distinctive capturing the grace and beauty of the old sailing ships, the vigour and power of warships and the special charm of fishing boats working the Scottish waters.
His work is found in many private collections and corporate buyers include Shell, Hilton Hotels, Edinburgh City Art Centre and BP.
