Her influences are artists such as William Turner and Joan
Eardly, while her gestural mark-making suggests an affinity
with the Abstract Expressionists methods of working.
Mairi uses mainly oil paint for its rich, deep and subtle
qualities . She enjoys scratching into the surface to create
textural effects. There is an obvious passion in her energetic
application of colliding layers of paint that intimate atmosphere
and changing weather conditions.
Mairi Clark`s use of a vibrant unfettered tapestry of colour
and light ensures that her abstract landscapes have a real
`sense of place` reflecting her love of the beautiful Scottish
landscape.
