Born in 1936 in Ayr, Scotland, Erni Upton has been painting since he was a young boy. Schooled at Ayr Academy, much of his youth was spent with the boats and fisherfolk of the West Coast of Scotland and he still cruises these waters each year.

In 1985, after many years of banking, he returned to his first love when he established an Art and Design company in Shropshire. He continued to paint, mainly commissions for private individuals and corporations, but it was not until 1999, when the company was sold, that he was available to devote more time to his art. His popularity has increased steadily ever since.
