My paper sculptures use recycled
tissue, up-cycled materials and found images in their construction.
The surfaces are painted with acrylics and ink with gold and silver
foil and other coloured papers added to give texture. Finished pieces
are matt varnished to protect the colour. I like the versatility
of paper and the ease with which it can be manipulated both in terms
of shape and colour. I also like using materials that are overlooked
or discarded so I include
common items that are usually thrown away to give them a new and
creative use as part of an artwork.
I trained in Fine Art at Edinburgh
University and Edinburgh College of Art, specialising in Drawing
and Sculpture and have worked as a public artist for over thirty
years in Scotland and internationally. Much of my work as an artist
is spent in facilitating visual art projects with a wide range of
groups and individuals so I enjoy the time spent in my own studio
developing my own ideas and artwork
