Iona
paints in oils, working at her landscape paintings outside, knowing
that the changing light and temperature adds an immediacy and zest
to her work. With energetic surface, colour and texture Iona works
on board with oil, ink, pastel and charcoal. When she paints still
life work, she seeks the same degree of ambition.
Amongst
her contemporary artistic influences figure Peter McLaren and Kate
Downie. The work of Anne Redpath, Joan Eardley and George Houston
she admires and often refers to.
Iona
is an elected artist member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists
(GSWA) and The Glasgow Art Club.
